This photo was taken last week at Elliston, Newfoundland (Canada). Most of the Puffins were sitting on top of the rocks that day (the day before they were all at sea). A Great Black-backed Gull chased them off to the sea and I took the photo at that moment. :)
You comments and suggestions are welcome!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Richard, It is great to see you here. I saw that avatar and thought, "I know that guy!" Thakns for yoyur membership support. This is a way cool and unique image; never seen one anything like it. I wish that a few of the birds were more evenly spaced and I wish that the BKGR had been all cliff. IAC, I like it. You did a good job with the framing.
How is your lovely wife?

Artie, you have a photographic memory :) Manon is doing well and say Hello! :)
I did observe the Atlantic Puffins in Newfoundland for 30 hours on 3 days and only saw this "massive" flying to the sea 3 times. I was on AI Servo the first 2 times and missed all the action... I decided to switch to one-shot and manual focus to finally get one correctly (took me 2 times to learn my lesson :) ).
Really cool moment captured Richard. When trying to capture action with the Mark III, I tend to push the ISO a little higher. In this case it would have allowed you to gain a bit more DOF, a slightly faster shutter speed, or both. I agree with Axel's suggestion regarding the crop. Overall an excellent photo!
ps: A good memory for nice folks! And I really like the top-crop idea.

Doug: Good point, I always try to keep the ISO down during the day but it is not a problem with the 1dmk3. I had problems with my 40D during the day but now I have no excuse.
I will try to keep that in mind for my next shots!
Thanks!
PS: I have cropped the top of the photo. The ratio is no longer 5x7 but I don't think it is a problem...
Thanks to all for your suggestions, they are appreciated! :)
Very different and striking!! I agree with the tighter crop and a higher ISo that would have given you more depth of field and frozen the action more with a higher SS. Still a lovely image!
