I am gooing away for 4 weeks to the beautiful country Norway where i hope to shoot beautiful pictures. So until that time enjoy this little sad story.

This youngster had to stay on his feet while strong winds and sands tormented his boddy. His brother alrady died urlier.

I can certainly feel the blowing sand and wind in this photo. I really like the colours. Dave

sad story, well depicted in this frame. whites on the body look a bit hot? I have never shot in snow so I wouldn't know how to compensate for all the white...:)

I saw one of these for the first time but unfortunately it was in an 'out of bounds area' . They really are tiny and this one was obviously fancing some harsh conditions. I like the monochrome effect of the photo. There are two minor points. Firstly there seems to be no detail on the white flank area? The second is the lack of catch light but I think the 'deadpan' eye almost adds to desperate struggle for survival you have depicted.

    Cheers

Ak, The whites on the flank and others are over-exposed as the histogram is clipped. I executed a pano crop ad while I was at it, I did a phony fix on the flank...

For an image this good, it is worth reconverting and starting from scratch. Wonderful story and mood.

    Hi Arthur,

I use Ligtroom as a converter bud with this photograph i had to deal with verry poor light conditions. I will try to get it done without overexsposure bud i am afraid that it will keep the eye in the dark more then it does now;)

Thanks AK, I am pretty sure that LR has some sort of Recovery slider. By using that, you can recover much seemingly lost detail in an image without having to darken the whole thing. And it is much better to avoid blown highlights and deal with the eye later.... And poor lighting conditions are no excuse for over-EXP. They can make a pretty good excuse for under-EXP

When they are this young, they are very vunerable. Apart from the one hot spot on the flank, you have exposed the rest of the image very well.

Very good job capturing the feel of the moment. I agree that spot is a bit hot and worth re-working (good advice above) and I'd consider cloning out the dark spot out in front of the lil fella.
