    Default Banking Tern

I put the bathroom remodel on hold this morning and headed to Nickerson to save my remaining sanity. Puddles are gone but with expected PM thunderstorms should easily reappear. I concentrated on the terns dive bombing other fellow photogs.......they weren't close......just changing position slightly provoked a poop attack. Canon 1D Marklll with the Sigma 300-800mm lens at 572mm for 1/3200 sec. at f7.1 and ISO 800. Cropped from horizontal to 90% vert.

    Roman,

I really like the banking pose, the outspread wings and tailfeathers have great detail. Good job handling the exposure, blacks and whites look fine on my monitor. I also love the dark BG, it gives a dramatic mood to the image. You might want to try a little bit more contrast. Good job.

Great pose forming a nice diagonal. Great to be able to see the eye. If this were mine (I wish :)) I'd back down on the sharpening in the wingtips, always a problem in high contrast wings.

Sweet banking pose Roman. I like the soft light and the matching of the colors in the BG and plumage of the bird.

Cool banking pose and the open beak adds to it. I might sharpen the head a tad more and could be wrong but it looks as if there is a slight S/H halo around wingtips and upper part of the head.

Were Jimmy & Grace getting bombed?:)
I like the wide open look here... nice timing.

sweet exposure against a difficult BG, Roman! pin sharp and great angle towards you. I would also sharpen the head selectively, specifically the beak.

Love the pose. The open mouth and fan tail are a plus for me. I also like the diagonal presentation. Thanks for sharing.

Super pose and good sharpness. I like the placement of the bird in the frame. I see a halo around the bird too.

Great banking angle, and love the fanned tail. Exposure looks good, and the open beak a bonus.

Great banking pose and comp, eye contact, fanned tail and open beak, with complementary BG. It's all there Roman. I like it a lot!

    Cheers!
