I have an opportunity to buy the Canon 400/f5.6 lens. Is the tripod mount ring on this lens removable and if so does it fit the 70-200/f4 zooms?

Yes it does. I'm assuming you're talking about the 70-200 f/4 IS. If so it fits perfectly.

Thanks Doug. Yes I have the IS version of the zoom. Great to hear it fits.

I actually find that 70-200 f/4 IS doesn't need a tripod collar, it's pretty light and stable with just the camera mounted on the tripod.
However, with the ring you just loosen it a bit and the entire unit turns in the ring. John, I assume you have a plate for the ring on the 70-200? If not, you would certainly want it to turn the 400. Cheers, Jay
