Ok, so now I am getting braver. Here is another lost farming scene from BC. This time its near Pouce Coupe on the Alberta Border, July of two years ago. I have used the Image Adjustments Shadow Highlights to try and bring the wood out more. I know what y'all are thinking, she should of shot it at an angle to get the side of the building in but I wondered about the use of a frontal shed statement, :D. Canon Reb XT f/13 1/400 ISO 200 24-105 @ 45 mm. So far nobody has run me out of town on a rail for showing these crazy old buildings.

I like the framing as presented Kat If anything a little more room to the right !!! Different compositions will also work and I always like working the subject, just walk around and see what you see !!!

Working from a laptop right now so I don't want to dig in and re do the PS work. This is an excellent image for tweaking and would be interested to see what everyone comes up with.

Would probably lighten a little the go after local contrast changes. The overall feel is sort of flat but do like the light ... will take cloudy every time !!!!

    Hi Katherine,

Nothing at all wrong with the straight-on shot of the shed. (It worked for Grandma Moses! ;))

This image has an overall blue/cyan cast. That isn't "wrong," it's just there and you want to be aware of it. If you like it, keep it. If not,
color correction is one part of post-processing worth getting down pat.

Great sky! agree with Al, to add some contrast. the cropping seems tight to me.

Ok, so I conveniently left this where I could find it again, and followed the instructions above. I discovered that I should have changed the light, Al has pointed this out to me before, from as shot to daylight, and that takes the blues out, I hope. And changed the cropping, etc etc. Except I see now that it is way to bright, and I lost the dark sky.

It doesnt sound easy, and what is more, its not easy...but thank you for your help.

    Hi Katherine,
I like the composition...the greens are a bit saturated and the clouds need a bit more saturation and a boost of contrast...Dave's repost puts it over the top...well done...

Yes, thanks Gus. Dave did catch it, and I am learning, very fast too, thanks to you guys. I really appreciate the help with this.

I would really like to see some more old shed shots taken by experts, but that might be too much to ask.

Richard, I LOVE it! That is great. I suppose I could actually do this couldnt i? Why not? The thing is these subjects are kind of beat up and run down, so anything should go.

    Thanks!

Harold...it is customary for busted up old sheds to have the windmill facing away from the shed, its a symbol of bereavement...(did I spell that right?).
