Alfred, I like the iridescence you captured on the fly. For some reason you make them look attractive!! Must be the color tones in the BG and plant. Very cool eye!
I agree with Denise--I've never met a more attractive fly. Beautiful colors and detail. I like how the detail fades away around the legs, causing me to focus on the fly's body and, especially, head.
The irridescence on the fly is wonderful - great lighting is such a wonderful thing, isn't it? It's the "eyebrows" that got me, though. What wonderful detail and clarity you manage to get in these images.
I like that the flower is two tones of yellow but the brighter one does pull my eye away a little. Might just tone it down a notch but still leave it a different color.
These flies (the Dolichopodidae-family) are not so nice as they look.
They are fierce predators and hunts for smaller insects, sometimes luring on floating vegetation.
But they are beautiful colored with a very typical metal shine and often green eyes.
I like the shallow DOF and the composition.
Great image,Al.
I haven't taken a look at your fly images until now due to my distaste of the nasty critters. :) It has been my loss as this is one beautiful photograph. I like the composition with the simple background and the placement and angle of the fly. The soft dreamy like quality is another plus. Well done.

Seems a bit like he's saying 'I can see for miles from up here!' Very cool Alfred! Like the comp, the details, and especially the iridescence of the fly.
