I've been very despondent with the winter being here - apart from feeding hundreds of sparrows, mannikins and doves - very few other birds around so decided to go down to the lagoon where the Mi - balls were on the go. (Huge plastic balls that the kids\young adults get inside and it get's blown up and sealed. They have to run around on the surface of the water - mad fun!!!)
The first one was with the 40D
70 - 200mm at 70mm and polariser

Next one was the cutest youngster whose tongue simply would not stay inside!!! (and yes, I was soaking...waded in up to my thighs!!!)

Jeni, I really like the action in the second image. But since I have never seen one of these, I need the first image to know what I am looking at. lol nice sharpness on the details in both the images. these look like a lot of fun to use as well as to photograph.
lol, the black "slashes" you see on the top image are waterproofed zips; the kids get in the plastic ball when it's almost collapsed and then air is pumped in until full; the zip is then closed and the sides velcroed down. The max time for a session is 10 min so plenty of air til then, but the kids come out exhausted!!! Really difficult to keep the balance and move.:D We have these "Mi Balls"at only 2 venues in South Africa, both on the Kwazulunatal South Coast
See attachment (Not a good pic but enough to give one an idea of how they work.)
What fun, the picture of the young boy is priceless. He working hard and using everything he can even his tongue. Great detail. Thanks for sharing as it brought a smile!
They have something like this at the college basketball games that I go to and they have a race. I've never seen it in the water. The second shot is great.... Congrats....
Jeni,
Thanks for sharing, looks like tremendous fun! I love your second image - he really is putting every effort in!
wonder if this will ever catch on in the States - it seems a great way to let off steam!
THis is so cool. I wanna do this. I bet you nowhere in Australia though. :( The only thing would worry me is air? Not sure if I'd get claustrophobic though.
I like the kid too, and would probably crop the red bit off the ULC.
Thanks for viewing and commenting - it was great fun taking the pics. Only thing I battled with was the light - the owners only started setting up shop at 10.30 a.m so by the time they were ready it was already 11a.m. The kids expressions and reactions were great!!:D
