Default THEME: BLUR - River rapids

Some time ago, bored between bird subjects I wanted to create a blur. This is about the only deliberate blur I did in camera. Had a quick play tonight, but will resume tomorrow evening with a tripod. No time sadly.

I used my 300mm telephoto and a shutter speed of 1/6th hand held to slow down the water and make the blur. I kind of like the little white caps. Only made two images and I liked this better.

Not sure what you fine gang think. :)

Akos, I think there is an interesting flow of lines and I like that you did a B&W. Might try to open up the URC a bit. I think you did great for a first blur!!Well done!!

Thanks. :) I am not happy with the URC myself and will try a layer mask, though I only read about them and never used one. So fun it will be.

Agreed about color, but I deliberately desaturated as the river looks yuck anyway. Told you I suck at blurs! :D

I really like the flow in this Akos and the nice tones. I tried some dodging to bring the highlights more, hopefully your eye will start in the ULC where I tried to make the whites the lightest.

Thanks for looking Jackie and for taking the time to rework the image and explain your tools/techniques used. I sincerely appreciate your feedback. :)

Hi Akos, Nice abstract you came up with, and Jackie's repost makes it even better. Like your choice of B&W as well.

    Hi,

I played with the master psd for a while with some dodging and burning. See if this is better? Maybe overdone? Especially the URC.

    Thanks for looking.

I think it's an improvement, Akos. To me the URC looks rather contrasty and doesn't fit well with the rest of the image. I would suggest bringing out more gray tones and maybe tone down the highlights a tiny bit in that area so it fits better with the rest of the picture. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks you Christopher, those were my exact thoughts. Just not sure how I could have gone about it. Thanks for the tips buddy. :)
