This was taken at the Alligator Farm this spring about 7:30 in the evening. I know the back of the egret is not
in good focus - is it too oof? Any other comments would be helpful:)

I think the star of this image is the light on the face of the egret...lovely light, colors and details. Therefore, I would like to offer another composition option for your consideration. If you choose to accept this crop, the oof problem of the back of the egret disappears instantly. :)

Hi Cheryl- Good Ha and nice colours on your eggy.

The mixed light is a bit of a issue - desmonds crop does allevaite the problem a little by putting the focus on the face area which is a little more evenly lit, also address your concern of the OOF Back area.
I would add a touch of sharpening to the eye area and tone down sonme of the brighter area's of the bill.

Looking forward to seeing more :)

    HI Cheryl,
I actually like your original composition and capture...it has character and a good feel to it...:) I would suggest however, to tone down the bill and open up the area around the eye, and selective sharpen it...looking forward to your next one...:)

Hi Cheryl Agree on cropping some from the original but not as much Would like seeing some more of the back. Also having that area oof is no bit deal as long as the eyes are sharp, having more of the bird sharp is not an option even stopping down

The light was soft enough the mixed light did not hurt you, also the white areas in the bg are not very distracting !! btw with these birds you want to sit an wait for a behavior, can bet another will come by and the crest feathers will to up !!!
