    Default Superb Blue Wren

This is a variation on an earlier post of this male blue wren. originally in a landscape format. I think vertical works best but the cocked-up tail on this species often presents framing problems.

These are exquisite birds John and - as you surely know - can become quite tame. Your image is exquiste too but I would darken the seed pod (if that's the correct word!), which would be easy to do; and then discreetly lighten the eye, which would be more difficult! Some Noise Ninja on the background is another option.

Great image John but are your Wrens (Male) white breasted? ours are grey.

Normally white below the Blue/black throat & breast Chris. Maybe you are seeing some variation.

John I really like the pose in this cropped version. Perhaps it's the blues blending a bit together in my eyes but the bird looks a little like a "painting" on my monitor. Still a nice capture of a beautiful bird.

Hi Chris - There is quite a variation in males that are just getting there breeding plumage and mature adults. Also some variation is evident in the post-processing between these images.

I like the pose, perch and composition. The catch light doesn't look quite right to me and you could do some selective sharpening on the head. I would use either Gaussian Blur or NR on the BG to make it smoother.

COMP lovely. Either a cloudy day or softer light were needed...

I agree with artie. Softer light is definitely needed here. The perch and BG are great!
