More testing the new 600 VR Image taken just at first light Used flash as main Also had some luck with flight images The AF performance was very good This image is very close to the way it came out No noise reduction Just levels and a slight curves adjustment & sharpening

This is quite different with that black background, Al. Lovely detail and texture in the feathers. Did you have any problems with the eye from the flash that needed correction?

Yes Tony Should have said that I went to the burn/dodge/desaturation tool Selected desaturate (100%) and went over the red to remove all traces It turns the red grey Then used the burn tool to return the black

I like the details and composition. I might remove the second catch light. ISO noise looks good although it's hard to judge with a black BG. :) I'm glad the lens works well for BIF, too.

Really nice image Al - great feather detail. I really like the black background here - helps the anhinga jump right off the screen. Looks like the 600VR will be working pretty good for you.
