    Default Bosque by Moonlight

In April we wee in New Mexico, and I went to Bosque del Apache early in the morning of April 12. I started at the place we had seen many egrets nesting the previous evening, and this was the first picture I took. Canon xSi and Tamron 18-270 at 18mm, 1/25 sec, f3.5.

Despite following the Art's directions as closely as possible, this picture lost a lot of sharpness and quality in compression for the web. I would appreciate suggestions about that as well as comments about the image itself.

Hi Casper Not sure what happened on the saving process but this should not be happening and can not blame on compression !!!

Neat seeing Bosque in April !!! Didn't see the exp compensation and would post for others, does help in understanding what you were doing.

Composition wise I like keeping the horizon away from the middle of image, best to place 1/3 form top or bottom. Do like the clouds/sky Appealing !!!

Saving wise we have several tutorials all over the place and one is right at the top of this gallery !!!! If you need help can PM

problem is that this image is saved with huge compression.
It is only 15kb in size, thus the posterization

Thank you all for your comments and help. I think I've managed to compress better. I'm Using Photoshop Elements, which is a little different from Photoshop.

I am reposting the picture in what I hope is a better compression.

The metering was Center Weighted Average with no adjustment, ISO640. I boosted exposure .20 in PSE, and lightened the shadows by 3.

I am posting a second image that I took at the same time as the other one. I liked it better except that the moon was right at the top edge of the image, and the camera was not level. By the time I straightened the image, the moon was cut out, but I think I still like it better. I don't know if it's kosher to post 2 versions of the same shot, but after Alfred's comment about composition I thought I'd go ahead.

EXIF info is very similar, CWAvg with no correction, boosted .20 in PSE. 1/13 second at f3.5, ISO800. Shadows lightened 2 in PSE.
