    Default Big Daylily, Small Ant

There's a 100 ft. long retaining wall full of daylilies just down the street from my house so I went there yesterday for the two whole hours that it wasn't raining and snapped up some images. This was one of my favorites - an ant on his way up the side of a daylily petal.

    Canon 40D, EF 100mm f/2.8 macro lens with extension tube(s) - probably the 20mm
    f4 @ 1/400th, ISO 200
Manual mode, pattern metering, natural light
Processed in ACR & CS4; small crop off the bottom.

Very nice composition and light.Maybe I would prefer the ant a tiny bit sharper.

Darn it, Thomas! I remembered to darken him up a bit but forgot to selectively sharpen him! I'll go back and do that. Thanks!!!

Denise, I bought the Kenko set with the 12mm, 20mm, & 36mm. I use them separately and together in all different combos so I never can remember which I had on for which image! I wish it showed up in the exif data...

Very beautiful, Jules. If this were mine, I'd crop some off the left or right for a stronger composition. Taking the curve off the center.

Fabs has a great point about off-centering the curve. Otherwise I love it. Congrats and thanks for sharing. I especially like the little ant for the nice balance. :)

Gorgeous shapes and flow, and colors! The ant makes it.
