Hope this ain't to "boring". Most people don't look twice when they see a "sea gull". I was one of those people. I also thought there was only one breed of gull. These GBB Gulls are huge, especially noticeable when standing next to other gull species.
Very harsh light, and I don't like the shadow cast by the wing. Whites are border line but weren't flashing. All C/C welcome.

I like seeing 'common' birds. Good eye contact and angle. I wish for a better light angle, the blacks could go darker and I would sharpen it a bit more.
I don't find this boring. I like seeing all bird species, including the "common" ones. Good self evaluation, and I agree with Axel's comments. think you did pretty good here given the conditions. Thanks for sharing.
Such light condition is tough. Comp is good. You shoult try a flash to fill in those harsh light condition. In this specific photo, you could select the eye and eyelid, lighten and saturate it a bit.
Thanks for all comments and critiques. I usually don't like taking pictures in these conditions but my son kept bugging me to go watch birds so I said heck I'll bring the camera and hope for some cloud cover. They never showed up!

Brian, any is bird boring. Even a House Sparrow could be interesting. Don't worry :D
I like this image. I just find it a bit soft as not critically sharp.
