Super backlight, what else is there to say? Subject placement is great. Love the tonality and mood. Thanks for sharing. :)

Loved the frame Kobus, very artistic frame., the placement of the sun at the corner of the frame makes it for me.

Lots to say :) I love the light especially the rim lighting on the back of the head. And I like the bird back in the frame. At the photographer's discretion, some CCW rotation would level the ground (that I understand might be a gentle hill). I would use the Patch Tool to eliminate the single strand of fairly prominent grass below the rear of the bird. Lastly, having the bright glow behind the bird draws the viewer's eye and in addition, makes the image unbalanced right. All things being equal and possible, I would suggest that if the photographer had moved about 10 meters to his left that placing the glow in the urhc would have resulted in a much more powerful image.

Artie has a lot of good ponits above. Still I like a lot the mood, the comp, colors, and overall look of this image. Congratulations!

Beautiful light and lovely silhouette, agree with slight roatation, the small blade of grass doesn't bother me. Well it didn't till Artie pointed it out and now I can't take my eye off of it.:) Beautiful colors!!

I like the light and silhouette. CCW rotation might level it but it might make it look as if the bird is not standing straight. I'm undecided about the brighter area in the upper right.

Me bad. Too many posts! I should have written, "I would suggest that if the photographer had moved about 10 meters to his left, the glow would have then been in the ULHC and this would have yielded a much more powerful image.

K, Sorry for the confusion. Now go back and enjoy another great sunset! Are birds without the chest feathers (like the bird in the photo above) the young birds?

Perfect silhouette Kobus, and love the colours in the BG. Good points by Artie, and well captured. Where abouts in CT did you capture this?

Artie, CT for South Africans = Cape Town not Connecticut :D:D. . Re chest feathers - what we see in the silhouette is some feathers hanging away from the rest of the contour feathers - there is no lack of feathers.
Lovely image, Kobus. Artie's suggestions would definitely fine tune it.

I would move the reflected light from the back of the birds head to somewhere near his chest or forhead. Also remove the relected light from the tail area, with the angle of the sun I wouldn't expect to see it that bright in that area.
