Finally getting around to working on my photo's from my trip to Coto Doñana in Spain. I accidently scared this Night heron from a ditch. It rested for a while on a fence to finish it's breakfast just long enough to get some shots from my car.Unfortunately, the fence brings in a very straight line right trough the frame. I diminished the disturbing effect by aligning the bottom of the frame with the bottom of the fence, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this (and other aspects of) composition.
Panasonic DMC-FZ18 resting on car window, 83mm (500mm SLR equivalent), 1.7x Nikon TC-E17ED, ISO-100, F/5.6, 1/500sec., -1.2 EC.
Thanks for your response!
Jerry.
Main issue here is the angl of light - with some of your bird in shadow and some in bright light. Always best to have the light lined up behind you.
As presented would lighten and sharpen the eye a tad. And a bit of CCW rotation the perch line is not straight.
Not a bad result from a Bridge camera - good detail even with the converter.
Looking forward to seeing more :)
Lance nailed the critique !!!! Mighty fine work with that DMC !!! ... got one similar for macro !!! .. I like how you are keeping the ISO low At higher levels is a fine noise machine :)
Thanks for the advice, folks. Agree with mr. Forns: as long as you stay in the 100 ISO, it's a pretty fine (and light!) camera. Ákos, they prey is pretty cool, but I got lucky: I only noticed it was there when I got home...
Alfred, are you using a screw-on closup lens in combination with your DMC? I've got a 4+ one with great results and excellent working distance from the subject.
With kind regards,
