lovely bird Kiran, thanks for sharing! I like the comp here as the bird lines up parallel to the perch. you exposed the colours nicely as well.

Beautiful bird, sharp, and nicely composed. The leaves make that long perch work.

Very nice Kiran. Love the tail running parallel of the branch. Nice colors on it.

Perfect pose Kiran, and love how the tail follows the perch. Beautiful colours captured in this, all well exposed.

Beautiful bird, good light, sharpness, BG and I particularly like that the tail is parallel to the branch and not blocked. If anything maybe a tiny bit more saturation? I have never seen this species and am not sure about it, though. Thanks for sharing!

Kiranbhai, You work is improving each week. With this image, it seems as if you are trying to entice me to come to India.... Was this at a set-up, in other words, did you attract the bird to the perch?

An astoundingly beautiful image for all of the reasons noted above.

    Hi mate
No need to get close, we get to see it in its entire beauty here, and the diagonal comp works perfectly for me. Nice colors too.

Thank you Gentlemen for your great words of encouragement, I really appreciate it.

Arthur Bhai, I would be a my honour to have you in India and be your assistant. will try my best to entice you more.

I would say this was a half setup bhai, during paddy harvesting season in the western ghats these guys come to feed on the paddy dropped on the ground. when they are disturbed they fly to the nearest available perch and play around this it is clear to go back down. I setup myself near one such perch and waited for this. the only problem was that the bird never came to the perch I wanted them to land but landed on the one a little further away.

Kiranbhai, That will never happen. If I do get to India, we will go out photographing together. I have never had an assistant and do not intend to start now.:) What you describe is not even half a set-up, just a smart photographer using his head!

I meant to ask, what is a ghat? Also, have you been to Bharatpur? (Hope that I spelled it correctly.)

Arthur, let me chip in. I am fortunate to have grown up in city very close to the western ghats. Western ghats is a long mountain range running along the west coast of southern part of India. Something like the Sierra Nevada. It has beautiful deep forests and birdlife. That part gets monsoon (rainy season) from May/June to Sept. dumping millions of gallons on water each year. You should definitely visit.

The word 'ghat' in my mother tongue means a mountaineous pass. There are numerous passes in those mountains.....more road than rail. The British might have picked that word and and named the whole range as 'western ghats'.

Now I live in Dallas...a world of difference :-)
