My position was such that I had no choice but to shoot into the sun. I liked the setting and amazing site/sounds so made the best of the rather flat original image. This is full frame and taken on Fir Island, Skagit Flats, near Conroy, Washington on Nov. 3, 2007.
I originally posted another version of this image on "eager to learn." I used a Fab Forns' suggestion to come up with this version. If there is any interest I will post the original frame.
Terry, I really like the warm feel of this image... The sun bursting through the haze is very nice. As for composition, I really like how the geese sort of form a funnel-shape headed toward the dip on the right in the background vegetation, as if they're flying towards an opening. However, the very right edge where the vegetation starts to rise again blocks that opening and thus I would crop off the right edge... I feel like that rise doesn't fit in with the flow of the image. I also find the dark grass along the bottom of the image to be somewhat distracting but removing that is personal preference.
Thanks very much, Marko, Travis, and John for your very kind comments. I have a couple of other images from that same morning that I will post over the next few days for your comment and suggestions.
