    Default Theme - Morning Flight

Shot on Fuji film and scanned by the local photo lab to disk. No data recorded.

This was shot one early morning 2007 at Merritt Island NWR. I liked the light fog and the flight. Head angle/eye contact is not good and flight direction is away, but ... I still liked the image.

I would consider it a BIFw/H but the H is obscured.

    Your turn. ;)

Hey Mark, This one does not do much for me except make me thank God for digital. The quality of the scan is extremely poor and the birds wings touching the horizon is less than ideal.

No problem Artie. I know where you are coming from, on your view of birds in flight, and I appreciate what I have learned a lot from you and others here in my brief encounter here. I also know that image quality is not perfect, as to the biological definition of the wings, scan quality, etc. However, if I can also disagree with you, I think as an impressionistic view it has some merit. So, I guess I will have to agree to disagree with you slightly on this one.

As for the wing position, they are defined below the top of the grass line, which to me is acceptable … to a point. If they were obscured by the top of the grass or the fog, it would be another matter. The shot was taken during take off and shortly after this the bird was into the fog.

As noted in my intro comment on the image, it is not perfect and I accept that. But I also see beauty in it.

I appreciate your comment … sincerely. However, I think it is more than just a casual missed shot image.

    Make A Great Day! ;)

IMHO - doesnt do a lot for me either - not enough detail present to hold my interest, had to look a number of times to make out that it was a bird and which direction it was going.

    Just my humble opinion.

I can see this image hanging on a wall. I like the feel of it. Personally I don't see this as strictly a bird photo at all. It's the entire image that I like. The grains/noise add to it IMO.

    Hi Mark
I can see both sides here, honestly. I like the look as is and am happy to say well done. :) Would fit the OOTB theme you know? :)

Hi Mark If you could see the birds head and the wings were clear of the horizon I think it could work The scan quality could even add to the mood !! It is interesting !!

Thank you. I fully understand and appreciate both sides of the discussion.

To me while the bird is the topic of this site, it is only part of the vision of this image. Without it there would be no image, but on it's own, as Artie and others note, it too would not work. Combined, well, we seem to somewhat differ on that! ;)

I see it as something that could and has been used on a personal greeting card and also as something to try to get the next time life puts me in the same location, at the same time, with the same image. ;)
