I really like the synchronized swimming pose. The portait style, ie cutting off the rumps works but I would like to see whether the full body shot doesn't work better. I think a very slight CW rotation might benefit the overall feel. I also like the funky hair-do on the front Pelican.

Nice texture in whites and detail for large crop, nice image. I like the HA's and layered look.
Do you have full body shots?

What's in front, can you expand both left and right?

Here's the full frame image with a little CW rotation. The birds were part of a flock numbering about 40 with birds to the left and right. They were traveling in a line feeding up and down the slough.

I understand the reason for your crop here Dan and like the concept, just not mad about the square comp.
I would maby take a tad off the top and add canvas in front for a more pano comp? (may even loose the reflection)
I like the details and colours captured and the 3 birds in a row is great.

Superb IQ for a large crop Dan. Also great DOF to have all three in perfect focus and all three sharp. Good job on their eyes too. I would crop off at the bottom where the blue green line in the water meet. Well captured.

    Dan,

Thanks for the full image view. I agree with some comments above. IMO, I might eliminate the reflection and a hair cut on top, neat image and beautiful subjects.
