This is a female red-winged blackbird bringing home some juicy squished insects to feed her chicks. The "juiciness" of the food items shows up better in the full-res version. :) I like the hint of habitat in the background. 40D, 500 f/4 + 1.4X, 1/640, f/7.1, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.
The crop may be a little drawn out (too tall), but the vertical compositon is nice. I agree, the cat tails blurred in the BG only add to the verticality of the image. I'm just about to post my first image for critique, and after compressing to the required dimensions my images are no longer sharp enough.... any suggestions?
Pastel shades in the background look really nice. I like the new look of the Vertical pano crop. This is a nice subject for that out-of-the-box crop and it works for me
I love the long tall Sally look here. Wonderful light, image sharpness, and design. The only thind that bugs me a bit, draws my eye, is the broken stalk bottom left corner. It would be easy to lose that with a QM or two if you so desire. Otherwise, mega!
ps; You did a superb job of getting in the perfect spot.
