    Default Nilgiri Tahr resting

    Nilgiri Tahr: Nilgiritragus hylocrius

It is classified as endangered in the IUCN redlist.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens at 95mm, ISO 400, f5.6, 1/200, EV: +1, hand held, full frame. It was drizzling and light level was very low. I could move in very close by crawling. It shook its head in the mock charge manner as I was close, so I had to back off. Their forehead is very strong and these adults can give a mean punch. :D

They prefer steep cliffs to avoid predators.

Look forward to your comments and critiques.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

I love the mood in the original. Since I've not seen the animal, can't tell which color is more accurate.
Shame he didn't give you a head turn, and I'm glad you decided to back off :)

I like the serenity Sabyasachi and admire your bravado. Well captured, a slightly better HA is all it needs for me. Thanks for sharing.

Perfect eye level capture Sabya, and well positioned to show the head against the open BG. Yes, pity he didnt turn his head more towards you.
