Activity at my feeder has been pretty good the past few weeks. I happen to like gold finches a lot. I know they are not exotic, but to me they are beautiful and a lot of fun to watch.

1DMK2 with 500 and 1.4 TC. Evaluative metering at ISO 500 with EV - 2/3 and fill flash with BB at EV - 1 2/3. F 5.6 and 1/200. Cropped vertical from horizontal. It was very overcast with intermittent rain.

Thanks for looking. C&C most welcome.

A touch tight in the LRC and I wonder if a little more DOF would have been achievable? Just to see both feet sharp. But maybe not. Great colors and HA. THanks for sharing Ed.

Agree with Akos, one thing I'd point out is that it is so easy to burn the yellows (in fact reds-in-the-yellow)
and you did great job here.

As mentioned more DOF and room would be nice. I wish the goldfinch was in a more upright pose, then you wouldn't have to worry about the tail being so close to the edge of the frame.
