Just take a look at those talons!!!
Very nice light and detail in the plumage, sharp face and cute, wet pantaloons.
It feels tight on the left.
What part of the bird did you spot meter off and what compensation did you use, if any?

Love the talons, the head position, the SH, the EXP, and the tail position. I am wishing that the wings were swept fully back. 1/1600 at f/8 at ISO 400 is usually a pretty good bet for bright whites in the sun. It is however, unless my math is wrong, a stop lighter than John Shaw's Sunny f/22 for whites. But heck, it's digital. Here's the math; did I screw up? 1 over the ISO at f/22 for whites in the sun = 1/400 at f/22 = 1/800 at f/16 = 1/1600 at f/11. This is one stop darker than the EXP here (that is perfect).

    Heck, it's digital.

Hi Fabs, I actually metered off the sky directly in front of me and then compensated 1 stop for the whites. It didn't quite work as Arties comment is spot on. The whites were a little bit hot and I had to recover them in bridge:) Should have went a little more.

Hi Artie....LOL. You are actually spot on with your math. I had to recover some whites in pp. I should have compensated more. Thanks.

Love the light here, the action, the outstretched talons & tail and that determined look. I was thinking more room may be good, but if you added room, he would look as though you could reach your hand out and touch him. And it does give the appearance now that he is extremely close to you. You did a good job toning down the whites b/c they look good here. Thanks for sharing! Marina

I disagree. You were actually pretty close to if not perfect. You cannot recover highlight info that is not there. Therefore, by pushing to the right without clipping you got extra detail in the blacks. I would say that 90% of the images that I convert in ACR need help from the Recovery slider.

Super Shot! I love the pose captured David and the outstretched talons make the shot for me excellent light and detail.

Brilliant detail, and pin sharp. I like the landing posture, and would add a bit of space, left and bottom.

Love the intense stare and the outstretched talons. The bird feels a little tight in the frame and I'd like to see the wings fully outstretched. Interesting exposure discussion.
