    Kind of a grey day, filled with flash ,
    400mm DO f4 IS lens on the 50D, shot at F5.6, iso 500 1/320 -.33 on camera, -2/3 on flash
    shot off tripod with wimberly head 580EX w/o Better beamer.
    I removed the flash catchlight, and did some PS work burning etc.

    Love the colors,details and especially that eye. Sharp where it counts.

    Beautiful bird, composition is unique. The head so close to the wood stub is challenging, but thats what you framed and it is a beautiful image. The eye is great.

    Maybe some additional selective sharpening on the body, let's see what others say, well done Don. Backgroung is great as well, nice.

    I love the eye, very detailed and realistic. The perch is a bit on the heavy side, but not that bad, either. The feet are cool and it does look sharp enough to my eye.

    Excellent colors, perhaps a touch tight for my taste. Good pose. Love the log.
