Feeding time for this 24hr old Mocking bird chick. The nest is just outside my kitchen window and 8ft up. Photo from the kitchen through window glass with a cardboard blind of sorts since the female would leave the nest while brooding any time she saw me through the window. I used an old Metz 45CT1 flash in manual mode, set the camera exposure comp. to -2 and set the camera aperture for the flash exposure.

    Any comments will be appreciated.

    Thanks, Mel

    Hi Mel,
I like this behavioral capture in it's natural habitat...you did very well considering that the capture was done through the kitchen glass. The bird is out in the clear and you have a clear sharp eye...my recommendation would be to tone down the hot spot on the branch, and on the bird's neck...would also boost up the saturation and the contrast just a tad, not too much...aside from this, congrats on a job well done...looking forward to more...

Hi Mel Agree with Gus Would raise the ISO to about 400 ... need the shutter speed !!!! For these feeding images go as tight as you can !!

Got a great set up Looking forward to more !!!!

I love this. It almost puts the viewer right in the nest. Can you get the lens a few inches higher? I'd love to see more of the chick.

Thanks very much for the comments and suggestions. Lens is now a bit higher since this image at one day old and the chicks are growing VERY fast. Will post another in a couple of days with more of the chicks in the image. Thanks again.

    Mel
