I like the low angle, head angle and eye contact, good use of DOF, too. I might have gone to ISO 400 since the shutter speed might have been sufficient and I'm wondering if lightening the eye would help.

Pristine and awesome composition, beautiful colors and pose. I looks like the eye has already been lightened.

Excellent exposure, sharp, and love the detail in this.

    Thanks for the comments!

I didn't explicitly lighten the eye but I did do a separate Levels adjustment for the eye vs. the rest of the image
to keep the eye from becoming too dark. I set the Black point to 25 for the main image but only to 20 for the eye.
That was after setting the Blacks slider to 30 in ACR as the RAW image was quite hazy due to the rainy
conditions. I often do lighten the eye but in this case, doing anything more than I did began to look unnatural to me.

    Hi Mike,

Beautiful simplistic photo! Love the water drops and the exposure on this gorgeous tern! On my work monitor, so I am not too sure about this, this seems a little on the blue side and would try especially in the blacks to add a little more yellow. Since the species is pretty small but long I would try what this would look like with a little less empty space on top in more of a Pano crop. Otherwise this is excellent!
