It is a serious problem in parks like Yellowstone, where tourists (like me) take to the roads to see wild animals like this healthy young coyote. She did make it across the road, but the tourists present a danger at least as serious as the predators in the food chain.

Good environmental impact image Kerry. I hope people slow down for the animals in the park. :)

This shows the problem really well, what is the speed limit there?

Axel, it's mostly 35 or so throughout the park but people get impatient. Every year a significant number of animals are killed by cars.

Thanks, Kerry! This is weird, you would think that people who go to this park are there to see animals.

Ya, but the park is so big that it takes a long time to get from one part of it to another. Many people try to see too much of it in a small amount of time. It is truly an amazing place. I've been there three times now and still haven't even seen all of it.

Same problem in Yosemite too Kerry, they post the speed limit but people go WAY over. They have placed red signs beside the road to mark where bears have been killed in an effort to male them slow down, which doesn't seemed to have helped. People enjoying nature but not respecting it IMHO.
