Default Theme: Roger Dean - "Blue Kingdom"

Hi all. I'm back! Getting adjusted to commuting by plane and being away from home except on weekends... I was flogging my old laptop to try to make it something it wasn't (new...) and I just bit the bullet and bought a new 17" MacBook Pro. I've spent the weekend setting it up and loading all my favorite software so I now have a mobile pixel room. :D

This image started as an interim step in the "mini worlds" theme we were doing a few weeks back. It was the part of the workflow where you turn your image into a square, and had started out as a "flipped" seascape of the Salton Sea. I liked the interim image so much that I saved it off before continuing with the project. I did a few tweaks in Topaz Adjust and cropped it out of the box. Hope you like it! I didn't have a mushroom to put in the water to make it look more like a Yes album cover, but I think it fits Roger's style pretty well.

Kerry, Nice to have you back!! This is fantastic and I can totally see it on the cover of a Yes album!! I had my first car crash listening to And you and I.....
I think Roger would love this!!! You nailed the feeling!! I'm thinking a bit off the bottom-but like it as presented!!

Thanks Denise! I'm sure Jon, Steve, Rick, Chris, and Bill would be flattered to know that you crashed your car listening to them.:D Some of the best music ever, and they are still doing it!

I have an original paperback version of Roger Dean's book "Views" that I have looked at for 40 years! It is falling apart but the art remains distinctive and fresh. Love it!

    Kerry
This is amazing buddy. I can see a face above the twin peaks!
It really reminds me of one of my favorite Iron Maiden album covers - Seventh son of a seventh son ('88). Though that has a lighter blue. See here.

    Congratulations! :)

Ákos, thanks for seeing the face! It was definitely part of the plan of this image. :D I'm so glad you saw it!

    Kerry, impressive work!

What I like about this theme is that we get educated while having fun. I was not familiar with Dean and was ablr to enjoy his work thanks to you :)

Fabs, BPN is without a doubt the best educational resource on the Internet! We get to share so much information here...

Kerry, this is surreal... i can make so many things out of this image. Just as Fabs pointed out, i had to look up on Roger Dean as well as YES album Denise mentioned. Thanks for sharing the background.

I could see this in a Tolkien novel Kerry. Like the monochromatic blue colour scheme, and the mountain coming out like a monolith. The clouds look like they could morph into anything at any second:) Powerful image.
