On this morning there was nice soft light until about 20 minutes after sunrise due to low wispy clouds on the eastern horizon. This was created at the moment the early sun peeked above those clouds. While this juvenile beauty was in the full early light, the Dark Green cypress in the BG were still in shade.

Beautiful light on that juvenile, David, I have not seen them this year yet. Wako? Great head angle and sharp where it counts. The couple of raise feathers add interest the the profile.

Hi Fabs, yes it was at Wako yesterday morning where these beauties are all over the place as usual this time of year.

Lovely light, loverly image. Love those neck feathers. The darker area just above the head is a minor distraction as it draws the viewer's eye.

Sweet light David, and I really like the curved shape of the neck.

Love the tight crop and the warm light on the bird. I like the color of the background as well.

I am huge fan of tight bird portraits. This one is really well done. The BG is dark enough and still has color in it..which I liked a lot. This is juv. tricolored, right?
