Hi Paulo - The harshlight is the killer here - the angle of light is also a problem, best to have the light lined up behind you.
Softlight would have been the key - is this also a large crop?? Seeing a considerable amount of noise present - or have you tried to open up the shadows using the shadow/highlight tool in PP.
Paolo I have been photographing those birds hard for the past couple of weeks and don't think I have a keeper. They are some kind of tough To get detail you need about perfect light ... and in this case is on the harsher side but directly at the bird. Have been trying to get them flaring.
As presented can select the pupil and darken Will make the image appear sharper. I like the pose and behavior !!!! btw looks like the shadows were opened?
Hi Paolo,
I like the placement of the bird in frame...agree with Mr. Peters points...for your next one, you need to watch and track your light...looking forward to your next one...
Hi Ray Is this the original? If it has any work done you can post the original (resized) just out of the camera!!! Can post as a reply below my name post
I like these birds, and I find difficult to take good pictures of these birds in flight. The problem I think is if you not have the proper light and because of the dark color you have to overexpose a lot and to get details of the plumage and problaly overexpose again in the raw converter and the result is lot of noise which is more visible in ther dark tones. Try to shoot when the sun in low in the horizon in early morning or late afternoon.
