Taken two days ago . . . I am particularly interested in my positioning of the song sparrow in this (minimally) cropped image (maybe crop more off the right side?) . . . and whether the feather color contrast is "rich" enough . . . and if my artificially inserted catch-light is adequate . . .

    Thanks,
    Wendell

Hi Wendell - First thing I notice is the Head/eye area is a little soft, which would tend to make me think your point of focus was not on the eye/head - some additional sharpening required maybe.
The added catchlight looks good and natural to my eyes - been reading Artie's tutorial :)
Love the high key effect - good HA and the colours look good to me.
Compositionally - a little too centred in the frame - for my personal tastes.

    Keep them coming :)

    Hi Wendell

You are getting consistently well exposed images, making good compensations !!!

At your shutter speed the image should have been sharp and you have the bird in the center. Remember to reposition the bird after acquiring focus .. you got a little button on the back to hold focus. Cropping wise agree with Lance and would take some from the right Want more room on the side he is looking !!!

Alfred, Lance and Gus 'preciate your observations. I've now experimented with the sharpening suggestion, and it makes the image better. And Lance I read the HA thread/tutorial you referenced/recommended to John Hawkins in his Tricolor portrait post/thread and learned a lot. Thanks for that! Don't know why I had not seen it before, but it was definitely worth a read for me . . .

Wendell - there is a wealth of information in the educational resources forum - some great reading in there.
