    Question Heron Birdbath

    Attached Images Attached Images

I came across this Great Blue Heron in the Everglades and watched him for a while and was rewarded by getting to watch him take a "birdbath". Taken with 70-200mm IS f 2.8 lens and canon 5D. My settings were ISO 100, shutterspeed 1/1600, f 2.8 handheld. This is my first critique submission so I hope I've included everything necessary.
    Thanks

Welcome to BPN, Sandra! Nice first post. I like the action and the bird 'bathtub'. First I thought there were ice around the bird. Sharpness and pose look good, too. The corners look darker than the center and it might need a bit clockwise rotation. Keep them coming!

welcome to BPN, sandra. awesome first post. i like the spotlighting of the bird idea, but maybe not quite as strong. nice detail in the bird. a lower capture angle might be better, too?

Welcome to BPN. Good comments from above. The vignette is distracting IMO. As Axel mentioned it need some CW rotation. I would recommend moving your copyright to a corner so it is less distracting.

I would like to see the image larger. You can post images up to 1024 pixels on the long side.

    Looking forward to more!

Thank you! I will decrease the vignette and I didn't "see" the need for CW rotation until you pointed it out but I do now and will try to make that happen too if I can figure it out.
I appreciate the information. I just finished reading "Birds as Art" and I would have known to get down to a lower angle if I had only read the book first!

Welcome to BPN Sandra. Spot on with the action, and sharp. I agree this needs a CW rotation, and I would have added a bit to the top.

    Welcome Sandra,
You just read one of my favorite (non-fiction) books of all time! Sure is inspiring, isn't it?
Wonderful image as presented and implementing the tweaks the previous members mentioned, it would be even more magic. Let's see some more! :)
