    This fairly large bird works the tree trunks like our Nuthatches. This was shot in Lamani MAyan Ruins in inland Belize. It is very close to ground eating termites and/or ants near base of tree.

    Cool bird, the woodpecker would have impressed me even more, although I have never seen this species before. :) I like the pose, eye contact and food item and might remove the green and black spots in the BG. It looks quite reddish on my monitor, I don't know if these are the real colors or if it is a color cast. Thanks for sharing!

    chas, i love the mood of this. the details are nice and you did some pretty good flash work too. it does appear a little red.

    Love the pose and the colors (if close to or as good as real colors - which I wouldn't know). The head angle is almost spot on. Well done.

    A different pose from the norm, and glad you captured the morsal in his beak. Cant comment on the accuracy of the colours, but I like them.

    Ohh, I have seen this one in Mexico. Lovely image. Nice colors on it. Hard to get them.

    great DOF, unusual pose and it's pin sharp. I would maybe have cropped so that the eye is on a vertical third line.
