there is a slight flare/halo along the breast. This is present before processing. what causes it and how do I correct or eliminate it? I did not crop the tip of branch over the body. should I?
If crop less on the bottom then part of a leaf shows on the bottom.
    Comments suggestion welcome:o

Hi Ray how much of a crop is this?

Wouldn't mind having the original for processing, not much I can do with the jpeg Areas around the back have little contrast and the texture of the branch is not right. Would suggest posting over at ETL without work at max size and will give it a go !!

Good pose and bg very cute bird !!!

You have quite a lot of details in the bird. The background, however, does not look natural to me. I see some appear to be straight lines and what looks like post-processing marks along the bird and the perch, probably some on the under-side of the tail, too. Did you replace the entire background? On my monitor, somehow the lighting on the bird and the background don't look in harmony with each other. As for the flare, I would try to increase the local contrast to see if it helps.

    Thanks for sharing!

I agree that the background doesn't look natural. It is too smooth, and the color is strange. Also the bird looks over-sharpened, and there is evidence of PP work on the perch and the black tail, and wing feathers.

    Default How to:

    Hey Ray,

If you extracted the bird and perch with a given softwear - the softwear could be the problem for the white fuzz outline. To remove this type of artifact a Wacom pen can be very helpful.

In PS use heavy magnification - clone tool set to 1 pixel, 100% hard. When satified with the results use Filter - Blur - gaussian blur set to .06 or .07 to the whole picture. Next use your sharpening method - by brush to the bird.

    Hope this will help.

Thanks for the suggestions. In fact the background is the real thing. The perch and bird were not extracted. I ran NR x1 on the background.

    Hi Alfred
That would be great. I would be glad to post it to ETL but I don't know what ETL is.

    Thanks Ray
