    Default Hovering Wader...

The water was deep at Wako today, so the Snowys and Tri-coloreds were using their hovering tecnique for hunting. They watch from a perch above the watrer till they see their prey and then fly out and snap up small fish on the fly. This led to some good photo ops. Created this morning at Wakodahatchee.

You cannot do much better than this. Perfect EXP. Love the trailing toes, the SH, even the duckweed. Is this full frame? It looks as if it dipped its near-wing into the drink....

As always, thanks for the learnings!!!! It's almost full frame; I took just a little from the top and right side for a stronger diagonal ( as learned from you pros; of course!!). I have some where it looks like this beauty is standing on the duckweed with bill in water (actually a few feet deep). Watching these big beauties hovering always amazes me!!!! How they see the fish through all that duck weed is beyond me...

Ditto the above comments. The duckweed does seem more turquoise than green though.

This is quite outstanding David. You have perfectly captured motion in the still image. As mentioned the lighting and exposure are dead-on.

Nice flight shot. Like the color of the surrounding water and the detail in the wings.

Superb exposure on the whites and love the comp.
Nice colours and light bird contrasts well with the green BG.
