Ok, it wasn't really in the morning. It was taken closer to noon actually on a cloudy day.

    D300 70-300 @ 300, ISO 800 1/500 f8.

Cropped a bit and cloned out some bright spots.

Just playing around with some filter in the Nik's Color Efex. Thought the result was still too sharp and so added a touch of surface blur on top of it. The grain comes with the filter.

It's the same sparrow in that "toe-less bird" photo :)

    C&C welcome and appreciated !

    Thank you !!

    Hi Desmond,
I like the composition, image and capture...your subject is placed just right in frame...I like the color rendition here...you have a good head angle and sharp eye...I would only suggest on running a low level pass of noise reduction in the background only...good show...looking forward to your next one...

i like the idea, but it puts a strong green color cast over the entire image. it looks strong enough to me to go without the filter. i like the way the crossing grass blades frames it's face.

Hi Desmond - I like the subdued colours and the relaxed feel to this. Gus has covered the techs. Might just lighten the eye a tad.
    Nice one :)

Very interesting and inventive. The green cast, desaturated colors and grain/noise
gives an impression of an aged photo. Agree with others, you made the most from a
difficult shot in a quite smart way.
