    Default Tawny love...

Our local pair of nocturnal Tawny Frogmouths can be seen roosting most days in the same shady spot. On this morning the larger bird placed its head on its mate's and posed for a few minutes. Hope you like it.

    Almost full frame, 30D, 300/4L and 1.4x, ISO400, f/8, 1/500th, HH

very unique.....great camouflage, made me do a double take.
Would much prefer a cleaner bg near the fine head feathers.

The pose is amazing but what happened to the shade??? The sun kills this as it makes the BKGR branches that much more distracting.

I followed the discovery link. Mazel tov! But where is a picture of the fish?????????????????????????

I like the great pose, but I'm with Artie about the shade. I would also like to see a cleaner BG, but I'm sure you would too. :)

Thanks everyone for the honest comments. Honesty is the best part of BPN and I have develped FAR MORE being a member here than ANY other site I have been a member of, which I am not now, mind you! I am very happy that BPN was conceived.

I did like the tenderness portrayed between the birds though. I'll post something a little more "appealing" soon.

    Thank you Maestro.

Here is a link to the Australian Museum Ichthyology page about the fish, no image though, which is weird.

And here is an article I wrote for an Australian Scuba Diving website many years ago. (with a few low-res pics) Enjoy Sir.

Thanks Akos. With the size of those images, they must have to pay by the pixel! Even when I looked at the largest image at "New Kid on the Block" I could not make out the fish. It must be great, however, to have a fish species named after you, especially while you are still alive. Why don't you post your best one in Wildlife and start bragging?
