    Default Common Yellowthroat

one bird I got down on the Coast near Houston :)

This is a full frame and I loved how the perch angle into the frame as well as the birds pose. I decided to keep all leafes, as I find they add something to the picture. Especially the little branch above th bird. When I clone it out, you wonder why the birds sing at this unsual point of the perch. With having it, it explains the pose...

Very beautiful and elegant photography. Excellent calling pose. Everything is so vertical and lean (I say this in a good way). I do find the stem's shadow along the edge of the bird's body and head distracting. The bottom leaf could go, but that is subjective...I'd like it better if was taller in the frame and not just sort of peeking in. I don't mind the DOF not catching the tail...everything that needs to be sharp, is.

    Jan:

Well exposed, agree about the branch above bird, would probably remove the one at bottom.
On my monitor, the bird looks slightly over sharpened, getting that "cookie cutter" look.
    Nice singing pose, pleasant background.

Since this is full frame, you were fairly close, and I think that explains the DOF question, despite the F stop.

PS: Daniel and I were typing at the same time, sorry for the repeat.

I like the perch, pose, singing pose and BG. I am undecided about the stem at the bottom but would lighten the shadow of the perch on the bird.

It is all about choices...getting enough shutterspeed to freeze the motion, getting enough DOF for the perch and tail...IMO you made the right choice...lovely pose and I'm glad you left that little twig in.

Beautiful singing pose! I like the curve the perch adds to the photo.

Composition sopt on here! Lovely colours, BG, head angle and pose of the bird! Good exposure and detail in the dark areas. I would remove the small twig sticking out at the bottom.
