    Default Nest Parasitism

In response to Peter Knoot's cowbird post and Axel's subsequent discussion on nest parasitism, I thought I would post this image I made of a chipping sparrow feeding its "adopted baby", a young cowbird whose mother had dumped her egg in the chipping sparrows nest.

Very nice to see Jim. I saw a Swamp Sparrow feeding a cowbird chick last year and Song Sparrows are well known to accept cowbird eggs. I think North American sparrows tend to get hammered by cowbirds.

Sorry John, I meant to credit you with starting the discussion about cowbird nest parasitism on the other thread. Thank you for explaining this behavior.
