This is a new bird for us here in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. At least for us it is. I wish the branch did not cross the tail, but I only had about 45 seconds to make 3-4 images and he flew away!

1DMK2 with 500 and 1.4 TC. ISO 800 with 1/250 and f 5.6. cropped to vertical from horizontal.

    Thanks for looking C&C welcome.

Well caught with that brief opportunity, Ed. Nice pose and lovely BG. I might burn in the thin perch a little and a little crop from above would be an option.

I like the pose and your background is delicious :), but I feel that the bird is soft, perhaps due to noise reduction?

My biggest problem is the branch disecting the bird. Not much you could do though I guess, especially if it happened fast. You did the best and it is still a darn fine image to me. THanks for sharing. :)

Like the placement of the bird here Ed, but must agree the disecting branch does distract a bit. But that is what Wildlife photography is all about - using the opportunity to your best ability in the situation, and you have created a very pleasing image. Was this a big crop? I see a bit of IQ loss. Lovely green BG - makes the bird pop nicely!
