let me just say that in my next life I want to come back as a weatherman! Checked the forcast today B4 heading out to Nickerson at 4am. Mostly sunny...Ha!!! Left around 11am...totally overcast. Well at least the chicks are starting to pop up and get active. The wind changed direction and many of them were trying to hide by mom or dad for warmth. Skimmenr puddles were huge.....at least 100 yds wide and deep. All the rain we've been having.
I did a bit of clean up on some greenery....main one above mom's head....most eliminated with crop about 75% full frame. Debating plant on LH side. Canon Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800mm lens and the 1.4 tele at 1120mm ISO 1600 at f16 and 1/500 sec. Manually focused. First time I've been to f16 with the Sigmonster. F11 wasn't quite enough on some.

Great job getting 3 good head angles. I would like to see more space above and to the right, and less below and to the left. For some reason, the eye looks a little funky to me.

Thanks all, was debating that one Artie....Thanks for the PP work.....like it a lot. No go on the raise camera.....cropped out OC feet at top of frame as is. Too many darn birds next to each other! Chicks should be more active by Sunday and hopefully make it out into a clearing.....if there is such a thing at nicekerson.

    Hi Roman

Great pose and a good job getting all three looking towards the camera. I think this would have been improved by some more space to the right.

Artie did a good job removing the stick from the front but I still find the central plant in front of the chicks draws the eye a little. It looks to me though the adult has its membrane over its eye?

    Cheers

I like the mood and details. The eye looks much better in the repost. The weather is a bit weird. It's hot and sunny here but near the shore it seems to be quite different.

Roman, YAW. Are the skimmers setting up at Nickerson?

Axel, I never touched the eyes....

Rich, I could remove that one too, for a fee But Roman did choose the best possible perspective to minimize its impact.

Great family moment. I like the plant in front of the two chicks separating them. Well exposed, and good to have eye contact from all three.

Super image - Arthurs crop seems more pleasing to me - also the adult's head has quite a bit of noise. But situation handled very well.
