Good wing pose and eye contact, my favorite heron, I love the red eyes of these guy. Is it possible to remove that shadow line on the neck? I, too, want to learn that.
I like the details and eye contact and find the angle a bit steep. The bigger problem is the position of the near wing that casts a strong shadow on the body and the far wing.
Ditto Axel. The shadow is the real image killer for me. Also I wish the bird had been flying towards you. I wonder if it was possible to get a full banking pose?
Mitalbhai, Super sharp with great detail and a pefect EXP. The shadow problem is a result of the bird turning away from you as Aiden noted.

Mitalbhai: I agree about the sharpness and exposure; excellent! Again, as stated, the shadow is very detrimental. However, how you managed to get the detail in those shadows is remarkable in itself. True, the bird turning toward you would have reduced the shadows size, and its impact , yet the harsh direct light is usually a losing cause. Sometimes it is possible to get the shadow working for you, like the shadow of an head and opened bill on a inside wing surface, much like what you have here with the left wing on the right's inner surface. Almost there, but not quite. Nonetheless an astonding image. regardfs~Bill
btw if you see the light angle coming through my right back it's easy to expose nice details on the shadow part.
i used bit S*H to enhance shadow as well. and very true to not have bird coming to me instead passing. but the event was so quick and this is full frame image as they were just going to perch on the tree near water body which was hard to sight the bird perched so the altitude was quickly dropping as the heron taking turn to land.
Good to see the head in perfect light, sharp, and showing up the lovely red eye perfectly. You have managed to expose detail on the underwing, but with the angle, you are always at a loss with the shadow.
While the shadow is not really ideal, it almost matches the lit wing outline, so there is appeal for me. It is very sharp and almost a good HA. So well done Mital. :)
