40D & 400 f/5.6 L, f/6.3, 1/1250, ISO 250
This image was taken at Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach. Yes, we have reddish in Sol Cal too :)!
PS. I'm linking this image from another forum, I would like to directly upload my image to BPN. How can I resize my image to meet the forum's file size limit of 200KB and still retain the maximum dimension of 1024x800? I've been playing around with various file sizes, even at 750x500 the file is still larger than 200KB.
I use DPP to convert my file to JPEG, then using CS2 to resize and edit.
Bring the image into Photoshop. Hit Shift/Alternate/Control/S (Save for web). When the dialogue box opens, there will be a right-facing double arrow. Click on that to bring up a dropdown menu. Then click on Optimize to file size. Type in 190 in the Desired File Size box, hit OK, and save to the desired destination.
The image is sharp and you have captured an image that depicts the peak of action. The multiple horizon lines are bothersome to my eye.

I like the light, wings pose, raised leg and low angle. I agree with Artie about the blue area at the top of the frame being a bit distracting. keep them coming :-).
I like the angle, details, pose and eye contact. If this something you do, you could try to remove the mentioned blue band in the upper left. Keep them coming!
Wow! You're so lucky to have Reddish Egrets in southern California. I have never seen one here in the Bay Area. I like the pose and the bokeh. I concur with the others regarding the distracting blue area in the background. Thanks for sharing.
