Hi Mr. Peters,
I respectfully reserve my opinion and comments. Lets see what our BPN brothers and sisters come up with...:)
OK I will play and put my head above the parapet first :) Firstly I would like to see a little bit of ccw rotation :) and I preferably do not want to see just the oof heads at the bottom, two options come to my mind , EITHER crop them out completely OR (preferably) include more of them to give the picture 'context'. Some of the blacks look a little blocked also :) Otherwise quite a nice shot of a fantastic bird I always enjoy photographing :)

Love the placement of the bird above the horizon line. The line of heads at the bottom is distracting; you can lose them with a simple crop.

I like the idea Lance We haven't had one for a few weeks !!! :)
The CCW rotation and rather than crop I would clone out the heads at the bottom as I think the canvas is needed there.
Bill
Bottom crop and too many stripes.
Beep are you referring to the bg stripes?
Haven't thought much about them With layering I try making sure no prominent part intersects an edge but can go either way !!!
Yes sir, too many BG multi color layers for me, a tad distracting and the bottom crop.
Beep - Out

i'd evict the heads. too distracting for me. if the dark blue stripe is water, then the horizon line needs a bit of CCW rotation. the different stripes dont bother me that much. but i wouldnt crop out the heads....cloning to leave the space.
Not sure what's wrong. Probably just different strokes for different folks. So, lose the heads and I would like to see the smoother, more subtle tonal transition among the stripes. Without the stripes, it's just one boring background with a lonely bird hanging in the middle of nowhere. I would bring out more details in the darker feathers.

Other than what's already been mentioned I'm sure you are bothered by the inconsistent lighting on the bird. Probably would have like to have more even illumination. Right? Do I win a hat? :D

CCW, clone out the heads. ;)
Hi Lance
I think the spot where you took the picture was a bit too far in front of the bird.
Image as taken was probably the best you could expect.
A slightly further back location for yourself would imho have produced a more satisfying result.

Good points - agree with a lot of them - from memory this was close to full frame. I could implement a lot of the above suggestions - but will get lots of opportunities to reshoot later in the year.
Good work everyone :)
