Hey Nicolas. very cool pose, nice details, I think this would work better as a horizontal with the critter looking into the frame, but not bad as is. BG looks good

Very cool, Nicolas. I'm amazed that you were able to get this close to a Tiger Beetle - usually they are running/flying away long before this. Nice pose, good sharpness and exposure, and a great low shooting angle. Your techs say you used flash on this image, but there is no evidence (e.g., lots of specular highlights) in the image to suggest that flash was used (which I like). How did you manage to do that? - I'd like to know. :)

Agree with the suggested horizontal presentation should work even better but do like it a lot !! A cool image any way you look at it !!!

Not sure what happened to the flash? Maybe the heads were not aiming at the bug? Big Congrats !!!

Love the detail. I too think a horizontal comp might be better. Only nit is that the color looks a bit flat to my eye.

    Hello Steve,

I use STOFEN OMNI-BOUNCE Diffuser in front my two SB-R200 Flashes.

Thank you all for your comments.:)

I agree with the others that this is nice presented as is but the horizontal would be even better. As is, I'd slice a little of the OOF area at the bottom of the frame away.

Good details and excellent use of flash!

Here's an other one, full size, taken the same day at the same place:
