The buck has an unusually light colored face which make him appealing to me for photos. But he is difficult to find and approach.
This photo was shot in a small clearing which is my favorite spot to start looking for deer, early in the morning. Not only do the deer like coming here to browse and bed down, but the lighting is much easier to deal with than deep in the woods where I took the fawn photos. lol

I did much less adjusting on this image compared to the fawn photo--not much other than sharpening and darkening the far background a little. Since this buck's face was nearly cenetered in the orig image, I cropped a lot off the left and a little off the right.

What do you think of this image?

I like it Cheryl Colors look good, well exposed and a clear face !! Pleasing bg and direct eye contact !! If anything remember the space for virtual feet Close but I think there is some here !!!

btw remember there will always be a little warmth to early morning/late afternoon images which we don't want to remove !!! Looking forward to the next !!! ... your doing well !!!

Love the eye contact and the head looks almost 3D against the far blurred bg, I also like the fg colours matching the bucks colours :)

Thank you, everyone, for your comments. They do have long legs, Al, I got to get quicker at manipulating my tripod and turning the lens to give me enough leg room in the images.

    thanks!!

    Thank you, all.
Harold, the bigma is working out well, in the narrow range of its sharp abilities..... I just had to figure that out.

Tell, I did a slight blur on the background to make the buck stand out more.

    beautiful light/color/comp.....well exposed.
Be cautious of oversharpening....you are right on the edged about the ears and forehead.
Body and neck look perfect IMO!

Dave, you are very perceptive on the sharpening. lol. I put a bit of extra sharpening on the ears and the beginnings of the antlers since I like those. lol. thanks for letting me know that I was getting too close to overdoing it.
