I like the wing position and light, the bird looks a bit soft on my monitor and I wish there were more eye contact.

Killer wing position but the head is angled away from you....

Nice wing position with good detail underside. Head angle mentioned. Overall, seems a little flat/subdued and there appears to be a dark edge along the bottom of the bird.

thanks very much for the comments and suggestions everyone. I've saturated a bit to improve colours, sharpened another tad more and also removed the dark ridge under the bird.

please let me know what you think of the repost. every comment helps ;)

Snap Morkel, you have the wings up and I have them down.
The repost looks better, I wouls just clean the bill up a bit and saturate the eye a tad.

Hi Morkel, your comp works well, and great show of the extended wing. You have exposed this nicely, as these guys can give off hot areas, especially where the wings join the body. Your repost is a huge improvement, with regards to sharpening. Well done.

Better, but still too contrasty, sky too dark, and still a less than ideal HA.

Morkel, I agree with Artie on this. You will have to go back and get another one.. after all that's the fun bit, right?
