.... actually not Australia but just North of it !!! The image was not made at night but during a day wall dive. Ambient light this depth was around 5.6 or less Setting the camera for f 16 and using flash as main will produce this results. Image made with Nikonos III and 150 iKelite strobe. Camera was aimed by hand and flash was off camera held and aimed by feel. Scanned slide film.
I like the vibrant colors and how they contrast with the dark BG. The color and texture of the anemone adds a lot to this one for me as well. I like it.
Boy, do I know about focusing with those darn, though almost indestructible Nik IIIs. I had two myself and once even flooded it on a trip, so rinsed it in freshwater, dried it and back in service it went. :)
Lovely image - the Clown is richly colored. This is the first UW image I have seen posted in months. Where were you diving just north of Oz? Does Fabs dive too?
Jackie and I are avid divers; did a month in Indonesia last year; diving Galapagos and Indonesia next year.
Wow, this is beautiful, Al. Sounds like UW photography is difficult...my dream to try it someday, but then again, I have enough trouble on dry land. Would love to see more.
