50D, 400 f2.8, 1/2000, f5.6, ISO 400. I spent the past few days at the famous Giant's Castle vulture hide and caught this interaction. I'm posting in avian as there's two vultures and only one jackal:).
Great interaction, setting and BG. Light and details look good, too. Someone should remove that big rock in front of the jackal's paw. :) Are there some food items hidden somewhere and who usually wins the fights, jackals or vultures?
Hi Stephen, I trust you had a good time at GC. Interaction well captured, pity about the rock in front of the jackals paw.
It looks like you had overcast weather, what time was this captured?
You did well with the DOF here.
Thx guys for the comments. Dave, this was early morning in great light (not overcast, hence the shadow on the jackals leg). We had mostly good weather with clouds now and again. Magic place that!
Dont you do any work Stephen? LOL. Well timed to capture the upturned wings, as he is well framed between the two - albeit, one is a vulture, and the other a jackal. Well exposed, sharp, and always enjoy the colours from these images. Well done.
I agree its an amazing place! Super light - you are lucky to have the good light on these subjects. We only had the Cape Vultures down after about 10 or 11 in the morning on harsh light. Exposure looks good!
Sweet image Stephen and I like the quality of light, the interaction and clarity of the image.
(....oh and that is one "fat" jackal and seems it is now a fixture at GC as well)
